This afternoon saw 2^nd place title contenders Dandy Town Roots take on the host and current Master’s Champions Prospect United on championship field in Prospect, Devonshire on a windy and waterlogged atmosphere 175 feet above sea level.

Dandy Town were equipped between the sticks with International Middle Weight Boxer Tyler Christopher who will be representing Bermuda in Barranquilla, Colombia, this month at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

After the opening whistle Dandy Town took aim from outside the box with Striker Hurdle volleying a 35 yard shot forcing Keeper Scott into action palming the ball to his right allowing for only a corner kick to goal.

League leader in scoring Jonathan Wood was rested today for the first half allowing Jamaican international Robin Evens to step up to the plate causing havoc and confusion in the 18 yard box and eventually settled the issue with a right footed shot past the keeper into the corner pocket to start the afternoons scoring sheet.

Dandy Towns Seyoum Tuzo provided some link up play up the flanks and supplying Shamori Gilbert and Shannon Gilbert allowing Kevin Hurdle the opportunity to finish the set play from a sublime Calvin Blankendale free kick and equal the scoring.

Just as Dandy Town felt as if they had some hope their spirits were crushed when Warren Reid fired home a missile into the back of the net leading the game 2 -1 up until the end of the first half.

Player Coach, striker, FIFA referee and match commissioner Chris Thompson signaled to the bench to rotate his reserves to the front line to see the rest of the game out as Dandy Towns frustration continued to grow.

Dandy Town Roots Coach Angelo Simmons urged his team on at the interval giving technical direction and team confidence.

Jonathan Wood added to his tally as well as the lead in the game when he latched on to a sublime pass and slotted home the 3^rd goal of the game which proved to deflate any chances of Dandy Town mustering up a confident attack.

Play was temporarily halted when Dandy Towns midfeilder Campbell claimed a bad tackle and for some reason decided to take a karate kick to the player and was subsequently ejected out of the game, despite the desperate tactics to slow down the Prospect United fire power Police continued their game plan.

Striker Thompson was released onto the pitch and split the defense and converted from spot to continue the goal scoring.

Roshan Douglas leapt above the defensive line and connected to cross from the left side and launched a flying header into the back of net and ending the game in devastating fashion.

This afternoon at Headquarters Hill 2018 Masters League Champions Prospect United descended from the Police Recreation Club ready to take on undefeated league leaders Flanagans on a windswept field at he home fixture.

Prospect Were full of confidence after beating the outfit in the KO Cup restoring their hopes of achieving the the league and cup consecutive seasons.

Flanagans were determined to solidify their defense and right the mistakes from their last encounter at the champions home ground.

Police struck first after some good play down the flank allowing Jamaican International Colin Stewart the ability to turn on a dime and fire a right footed toe burner into the  opponents top pigeon.

Flanagans were not to be denied after some accurate passing game allowed them to capitalize on a back pass orchestrated by the Chief and seemingly equaled the scoring.

Masters league leading goal scorer Jonathan Wood extended his lead as well as retaking the lead in the game by squeezing a daisy cutter between the keeper and the right post into the bottom corner pocket from 14 yards out.

Both team entered the half ready to compete for the rest of the afternoon with prospect managing but heir strikers onto the score sheet and Flanagans captain finding his way as well.

Flanagans made some technical changes providing fresh legs for their wing attack. But Prospect had their own intentions to see the game out with Hosan Clarke and Jonny Talbot to counter.

Just as Flangans began to execute their plan Prospects chin leapt up to the task ashot 30 yard looper over the Flanagans goal keeper crushing their momentum and setting up a long afternoon at the PRC football field.

Nevertheless Flanagans refused to lay down and continued their game plan which finished in stylish goal to pull the team back into contention.

Despite the chief 1st half positioning he made well of his forward role and beat the keeper and scoring the 4th goal of the game.

Flanagans played well away from home but the Prospect fire power allowed Shane Simmons the opportunity to strike from distance leaving the keeper no chance and ended the encounter Prospect 5 Flanagans 2.

This evening defending champions Prospect United hosted neighbors and league rivals North Village Rams in the first boundary derby of the season.

North Village boasted the likes of Aljame Zuille and Shervin Jennings in the transfer window to lead the front line.

Prospect had their deadly dual of Jonathan Wood and Colin Steward in ranks as well.

Armel Thomas sported his referee jacket and blew his whistle to start the events.

North Village showed up in full outfit to take the field as well as the lead early in the first half through former Bermuda International striker Aljame Zuille.

Police had seen it all before and retaliated with an equalizer through league leading goal scorer Jonathan Wood.

Both teams took to the half at 1-1 with Player coach Chris the Cat Thompson making the save of the day palming a North Village shot to his let keeping Prospect in the game.

North Villege were able to utilize their subs and well as their referee and managed to run away with the game in the second half.

This afternoon PHC Zebras stadium hosted the Masters League Champions Prospect United in a event full of action and goals to cap off the event.

Both Prospect’s strikers Woody and Steward were available for the encounter forcing PHC to draw from the clubs divisional players to match the Prospect roster.

Player coach Thompson flew back from Jamaica for the game to settle the issue.

PHC took the lead through Quinton Stovell early but Prospect were not to be denied. As the players warmed up they started to put together some good play especially from the middle of the pitch.

The wind swept field caused problems for both teams attempting long balls and crosses so both had to adapt to on the ground play creating triangles and short passes.

Both teams entered the half with PHC edging Prospect 2-0. Both ponce the referee blew his whistle.

Prospect began running at PHC relentlessly causing havoc in the PHC penalty box with Woody slipping past 3 defenders and a keeper and firing his shot into the corner pocket reminding PHC why Prospect showed up to the field.

Minutes later Chin collected the ball at the top of the 1 yard box and sent in a daisy cutter that the keeper could not manage to handle.

Esta noche, los eventos tuvieron lugar bajo un campo barrido por la lluvia en el Estadio Nacional con Bermudas recibiendo a los gigantes centroamericanos El Salvador a las 8:00 p.m.

El delantero internacional de las Bermudas, Nahki Wells, llevó a su equipo al campo junto con el delantero de su compatriota Dandy Town, Reggie Lamb, a quien ambos regresaron a casa de sus obligaciones profesionales en Inglaterra.

Ambos equipos entraron al terreno de juego bajo las fuertes lluvias con los simpatizantes de las Bermudas manteniéndose firmes en medio de las condiciones para capear el temporal y asegurar la victoria para las Bermudas.

Maters League KO Cup

This week defending champions Prospect United hosted the undefeated league leaders Flanagan’s in the 1^st round of the Masters Knock Out Cup.

Still feeling the blows from losing to St Georges, Prospect was determined not to have the same fate again today. Player coach Thompson was called to referee duties in the middle of the pitch to ensure the game was marshalled fairly.

The whistle blew a few minutes past 3:00 pm with both teams ready for the occasion. Prospect playing against the wind found themselves pinned in front of the Flanagan’s net launching shot after shot and amassing numerous corners kicks from the spot, eventually, Barbados international Miller slipped his shot over the goal line after striking the underside of the cross bar to open the scoring.

Moments later on the very next restart Flanagan’s were awarded a free kick after loose ball was handled. Keeper Lawrence drove to his right and nearly saved the kick but the power behind the ball forced it past his gloves equaling the score at 1-1 into the 1^st half of play.

Both teams enter the half gasping for water and were accompanied by dry heat of the day. Coach Thompson urged his team on knowing that the knock out cup was a win or go home scenario.

The second half began similar to the first however Prospect found their finishing touch through English international striker Jonathan Wood who struck home not just once, twice, three times but 4 times in the second half to ensure that his talent wasn’t just sheer luck and secured the win for the home side and reestablished the clubs winning ways in defeating Flanagan’s in the opening round of the KO cup.

This afternoon Headquarters’ Hill hosted Women’s Rugby on a windswept afternoon at prospect Field.

Saturday, October 27th 2018 @ 1:00 p.m.

This afternoon travelling Prospect United met St. George’s All Stars in the opening game at 1300 hours. All Stars had acquired key signings in the off season with the now defunct Devonshire All Stars. Dell Tyrell was at his best this afternoon after his warm up cycling before game. Coincidently English national Jonathan Wood was equally up to his task on opposite end of the field.

Former Social Club stalwart Rappar was at the center of the action immediately granting St. Georges a cheap free kick in the opening on top of the 18 yard box to Dell Tyrell stepped up to the plate and pitched the ball into the top pigeon of the Prospect goal.

Moments later the champions displayed class as they sliced the St Georges back line to which Dexter hall volleyed the ball into net after a keeper blocked the ball with his first attempt. Nevertheless the referee disallowed the goal and kept the score at 0-1

With the officiating in the St. Georges corner Prospect had dig deep to which Jonathan Wood came into mid field and turned on a dime and cut across midfielders and stepped over and past the defenders and rifled the ball into the corner pocket of the St. Georges goal leaving the keeper no chance equally the score to which the referee could find no reason to disallow on this occasion.

With the support the referee St Georges was able to win the majority of the calls which may have aided in their 2 goal of the half. But again Robin Evans fired a bullet into back of net from close range equaling the score to the end the half.

Both teams felt the heat of the day amidst a high paced game play.

With the strong winds St. Georges began shoveling hail Marys for Del Tryell to chase down over and over in the second half. to which were able to run away with the game in the remaining minutes of the contest.
