Excessive Force

Warwick citizens are appealing to the public for information of cell phone footage of the Police beating innocent PHC soccer players at Police field around 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Members of the group protested to lack of official support has they too fell victim to the lethal force of a police attack.

Dwayne Caines was not able to comment on the scene.

Witnesses claim that the visitors were expecting to have a casual walk through the arboretum when they were confronted by well trained officers who pounced on the group in indescribable form.

Kenny Mills and Mangos Lightbourne were lost for words while Quinton Hunt continued to protest his unhappiness with the top of the table clash.

Andre Washington ensued that PHC attorneys and legislators are threatening to sue for the violation of their civil rights under 42 B.D.A. ; 1983. Section 1983 actions seek damages or injunctions against abusive police techniques.

Nevertheless, whatever the protestors may claim the official scored the match Police 3  PHC 2 handing them their second loss of the season amassing a total of 65 goals while conceding 28 against in the Master’s league.

Police Brutality

Once again we are reminded of the relentless police attacks taking place all over the island this year with the deliberate use of excessive force.

This weekend police came out with shields up and tasers blazing against unsuspecting resident visitors from Young Men’s Social Club forcing them into submissions due to sheer exhaustion from the surprise attack at Headquarters Hill in Devonshire to which Elihu Holmes refused to give any comment.

Well known sharp shooter Dennis Joelle was merciless as he literally left grown men laying on the ground on his quest while Colin Stewart fired shots at Tiko Hassle from close range leaving the Hamilton group defenseless.

Social Club’s Shervin Jennings continued to complain about his men being outmuscled, outnumbered and outskilled as Marvin Iris, Chevone Armstrong and Mel Bowen were overwhelmed and unable to defend themselves which all fell on deaf ears of the officials in attendance.

At the half Player Coach Chris Thomson leapt off the bench and lead the attack as Prospect rotated their reserves to the front line and ended the contest Prospect 3 YSMC 1.

Only Devonshire, Village and St Georges have bested this team this season while dominating the rest of the league in devastating fashion remaining in second place to PHC Zebras.

Police Field Derby Clash

At Police Field hosts Prospect United took on tenants and local rivals Devonshire Colts in a derby clash which lived up to expectations on a rain filled day of football.

Prospect United took an early lead when Bermuda international Jahnai Raynor selected his 9 iron and sent looping ball over the Devonshire defense allowing Prospect United striker Gevinho Greaves to slam home a right footed shot across the line to start the events off in the 18th minute of the proceedings and silenced the Devonshire Colts supporters.

This was Raynors first game back to domestic action having returned from Haiti in the Digicel Caribbean Cup tournament with Bermuda teammate Cann whom are now playing against each other in local action.

Devonshire Colts quickly responded with excruciating pressure seeing Crichilow and Lambe were able to convert and take the lead in to which events were halted after Harris received a yellow card for a tackle.

Colts ran out to a 3-1 lead in the second half in which Prospect desperately needed a spark which came from the goal prolific Deshaun Berkley who tapped home a side footed effort from Jahnai Raynor who picked up his second assist the game. Berkeley has now scored in all 4 games since returning from injury.

Prospect came close on few occasions to equalize the competition however with conditions worsening on the waterlogged field Colts were awarded a penalty kick in which Lorenzo Symonds converted to end to contest.

Paget Lions were up next to face Prospect United at home having their own problems in the league weren’t going to allow any further points at home. History was made when professional footballer Kentione Jennings was able to share the field with his son whom made his 1st Division debut for the deeply depleted Prospect Team through injuries and shift demands.

The North Village, Bermuda International, Hereford United (England) and now Prospect United front man said, ” he has been training with us all season and with only a few league games left in the regular season its now his turn…” Deshaun Dillas was acquired this season from the North Village junior level and now since reaching the age of eligibility had the chance to apply his trade in the senior team and join his well decorated family heritage of elite footballers.

Prospect was also lucky in the transfer market recently acquiring Canadian international from the Vancouver Metro Soccer League Darren White, British international Jamie Cedene from the Bermuda Athletic Association as well as Ecuadorian international from the Campeonatos Ecuatorianos de Fútbol Stalin Naranjo who is included in today’s 16 in order to solidify their defensive line up.

After an uneventful first half with both teams having to reach deep into their benches. Prospect finally shifted out of 1st gear and the goals came rolling in. Ronald Bell broke the ice early in the second half with a left footed rifle that targeted the right pigeon.

Quinn Simmons added a second 5 minutes later with some good work down the left hand side and fired a roofer past the keeper.

Captain Justin Hunt leapt off the bench and sent in a daisy cutter from the right side into the left corner pocket of the goal and  double his tally in the 77th minute with right footed effort which ended the game Prospect United 4, Paget Lions 0.
