This weekend police were stunned at the results of the well-organized St. George’s All Star team as former Prospect United captain Quinton Francis lead his men to victory handing Police their first loss of the season.
Many of the new recruits from the Police team were made to look amateur as the tables were turned on them at Prospect field.
Francis was quoted “ I was surprised at the running ability of the new players they have acquired which is the reason I had to take a break at the half, Dennie was able to defend and advance forward along side Warren Reid and was able to get forward often.
St. George’s irritated the home team after turning up to the ground wearing their new strip which features nearly the same colours as Prospect United.
Not only playing a sophisticated game of football but also leaving the home team shell shocked.
Keeper Simmons was substituted at the half allowing Prospects new signing Lawrence Scott a show between the sticks.

Saturday afternoon around 3p.m. police vehicles proceeded to move in on the hostile crowds on the grounds at Devonshire Recreation field.
Devonshire football players took aim at Llewellyn Simons to which he was not able to get up unscaved after making numerous diving saves during the early violence.
Police had to call in Barbados recruits in order solidify their defensive units allowing Colin Stuart the opportunity to fire a rifle from the spot which silenced the onlookers.
Devonshire continued to resist in which police brought on the Jamaican attack force to the front line forcing the Devonshire pretenders into arrest.
5 mins before the end of the game was a one on one in which the Devonshire striker took a shot forcing Keeper Simmons to dive to his left to save the game.
Referee Arthur asked his men to accept defeat and finally blew his while ending the game at 2-3.
Keeper Simmons was quoted after the game saying” My save in the last 5 minutes of the game gave us the win…”

BFA Field Derby Clash

On the weekend Devonshire Colts supporters were at a standstill as Police drew a line in which Colts were not able to pass by.
At BFA field hosts Prospect United took on local rivals Devonshire Colts in a derby clash which the two competitors had to share the spoils.
Prospect United took an early lead when Jamaican international Colin Stewart selected his driver and right footed a penalty shot across the line to start the events off in the 18th minute of the proceedings and silenced the Devonshire Colts supporters.
Colts quickly responded to try and stay in the game and not get blown away like so many teams in the league.
Prospect once again took the lead making the score 2-1.
Colts later equalized to share the spoils on the first game in the league at BFA field.

Excessive Force

Warwick citizens are appealing to the public for information of cell phone footage of the Police beating innocent PHC soccer players at Police field around 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Members of the group protested to lack of official support has they too fell victim to the lethal force of a police attack.
Dwayne Caines was not able to comment on the scene.
Witnesses claim that the visitors were expecting to have a casual walk through the arboretum when they were confronted by well trained officers who pounced on the group in indescribable form.
Kenny Mills and Mangos Lightbourne were lost for words while Quinton Hunt continued to protest his unhappiness with the top of the table clash.
Andre Washington ensued that PHC attorneys and legislators are threatening to sue for the violation of their civil rights under 42 B.D.A. ; 1983. Section 1983 actions seek damages or injunctions against abusive police techniques.
Nevertheless, whatever the protestors may claim the official scored the match Police 3 PHC 2 handing them their second loss of the season amassing a total of 65 goals while conceding 28 against in the Master’s league.

Police Brutality

Once again we are reminded of the relentless police attacks taking place all over the island this year with the deliberate use of excessive force.
This weekend police came out with shields up and tasers blazing against unsuspecting resident visitors from Young Men’s Social Club forcing them into submissions due to sheer exhaustion from the surprise attack at Headquarters Hill in Devonshire to which Elihu Holmes refused to give any comment.
Well known sharp shooter Dennis Joelle was merciless as he literally left grown men laying on the ground on his quest while Colin Stewart fired shots at Tiko Hassle from close range leaving the Hamilton group defenseless.
Social Club’s Shervin Jennings continued to complain about his men being outmuscled, outnumbered and outskilled as Marvin Iris, Chevone Armstrong and Mel Bowen were overwhelmed and unable to defend themselves which all fell on deaf ears of the officials in attendance.
At the half Player Coach Chris Thomson leapt off the bench and lead the attack as Prospect rotated their reserves to the front line and ended the contest Prospect 3 YSMC 1.
Only Devonshire, Village and St Georges have bested this team this season while dominating the rest of the league in devastating fashion remaining in second place to PHC Zebras.

Lionel Cann equalized for the St. George’s Stallions in the 35th minute, a ball from Sinclair Gibbons sent Cann running in one on one with the Young Men social Club goalkeeper Tiko Hassell and he slammed his shot into the back of the net. The second half saw both teams slow the pace down, but it was the St. George’s Stallions that found the go ahead goal which came in the 73rd minute when Sinclair Gibbons used the outside of his left boot to score and then in the 88th minute. Veteran defender Karl Roberts hailed the spirit of his team-mates yesterday as St. George’s Colts capped off a fine season with a well-earned win over Prospect United in the Shield final at the National Sports Centre (NSC).
Goals from Jarreau Hayward and Mackie Crane either side of the break saw the home.
Colts had already guaranteed their top-flight status for next season with their second place finish in the First Division, along with champions and near-neigbours ‘s.
Roberts, who along with team-mate Neil Paynter, has been in many finals during illustrious careers believes the Shield win would be a good stepping stone in their preparation for the Premier Division.
“The guys have worked hard the whole season, and this is pay-off for all the hard work that was put in,” said Roberts.
“It’s good to come away with something, we were unfortunate to not win the league but it’s always a bonus to win something and take this with us to the Premier Division.
“The win is a morale booster for us, we stuck together next year, so it’s a stepping stone for us and to win today.”
“It’s a pleasure to play in the final.
“Neil and I have played in many and it’s always great to play at the National Sports Centre, and for us to win another title is great.
“It’s always pleasing to win something.
“This is a new team for me and I’ve enjoyed playing with the guys and for the club.”
