Police find no answer for secret weapon

League Champions Prospect United hosted KO Champions St Georges Stallions Saturday, October 20th 2018.

 

 

This afternoon at 15:00 hours echo 11 arrived at Headquarters Hill and saw a eerie atmosphere deja vu of last year at this same event. Once again Herbie Bascome at the center of attention when so far as 3:30 no blue shirt could be seen on site.

Luellen Simmons whom recently transferred from Police to St. George’s was at the scene organizing technical directing with president Neil Paynter.

Head coach Chris Thomson and Bascome met in the middle of the field to discuss this evenings procedures.

The motion was made that the events would go head as planned quite similar to their last encounter at Police field.

St George entered the field with 10 men after which the police rested their reserves having a numerical advantage.

Police struck first with Talbot finding shooting range available to start the weekends celebrations.

Shortly after Bascome unveiled what no man expected he could manage, to acquire his 7th Police transfer player into his foundation.

St. Georges completed their 11th player to the field in Bermudian international striker Stacy Babb to the surprise of everyone.

Babb played and captained the Police women’s team for several seasons winning numerous silverware for the club and country whom for time was seen this afternoon in a St. George’s uniform joining the ranks of Erk Daniels, Jerome Laws, Clifton Roberts, Deforest Evens, Kentione Jennings, Luellen Simmons, and now herself a St George’s player.

St Georges were awarded a penalty kick to which keeper Lawrence Scott was called into action and saw the effort over top of the cross bar.

After a mix up in the top of the Police box the ball was bundled into the goal which evened the score at the stroke of half time.

Police rotated their reserves to the front line but no player had any answer to Stacy Babb as she ran the front line.

More drama and mind games were expected to be the atmosphere but the winning goal was scored by Stacy Babb late in the second half of the game handing St. Georges all 3 points and Police their first loss of the season.
