This afternoon Devonshire residents were entertained by the border clash between Devonshire Recreation Club and the reigning, defending and new league champions Prospect Recreation Club. Prospect began their title defense this afternoon with mixture of new and original players acquiring signings from the African international Leke, England international Steven COP Corbishley and returning to the team saw Milan and Dennis to strengthen their units.

Prospect began with the ball at Woody’s feet supplying breath taking passes triangle around the Devonshire outfit, Prospect front line with the likes of Colin Steward, eventually the tie would be broken with the amount of play in and around the Devonshire back end.

Devonshire wasn’t about to give up in front of their home fans acquiring signings of their own Bermuda National squad striker Walter Musson and Wolves Stalwart Herbie.

After several attempts both team reentered the half with the score at 0-0 forcing both coaches to reshuffle their line ups.

The ice was broken after several whistles of off side were called the play back. Colin Steward held the ball up on top of the 6 yard box and slipped the ball short side into the back of the net and silenced the Devonshire supporters who came out to cheer on their team.

Once the momentum was establish Prospect did what they do best which is rotate their reserves to the front line with an all Jamaican attack and run at defensive units unit they inevitably begin leaking goals.

Gaols were acquired from all Prospect strikers with Cat Thompson, David Urbina, Leke, Woody and Colin Steward scoring twice.

Devonshire was given a lifeline in the 88th minute which sent their supporters into jubilation and were finally able to use their air horns, but it was too little too late to contain the firepower of the Prospect United outfit.

League winning Head Coach Thompson stated after the game “Excellent performance by everyone involved.”
