Somerset supports were stunned at the firepower and speed of the Police outfit at the Silver City Stadium this afternoon which saw the Police end the game with a clean sheet and took home all three point catapulting them to the top of the league tables.

Tracy Adam’s 11 man Police Unit quickly dismantled the Somerset defense at will running at the Eastern End of the field with the winds at their backs.

Somerset added to their arsenal after acquiring the services of both former Somerset Eagles captains Stevie Burrows and Noel Woods who were not able to withhold their defenses units.

Jonny Talbot opening the scoring in the 29th minute of the first half when he dramatically rose above the his opponents and headed home the ice breaker leaving the Somerset supporters in disarray.

The half ended with both teams entering the dressing room at 0-1 with 45 minutes left in the contest.

Prospect reentered the field and nearly extended their lead with Colin Stewart leaving a trail of carnage on his way to the goal including the keeper to which their sweeper  controversially sat on the ball to prevent it from crossing the line.

Chris “The Cat” Thompson was called to action making a diving save to his left grabbing the ball after the Somerset striker Dwight Basden fired the ball at net.

With fatigue setting and frustration growing Prospect finally settled the issue in the 75 minute when their newly acquired rookie leapt off the bench and scored right footed effort from a cross that left the keeper no chance and was fired into the corner pocket of the goal at the Western End of the field leaving the Somerset outfit hapless in their devours.

Player coach Chris Thompson was quoted after the game ” ….nice effort from everyone involved”

Man of the match: T Adams.
